End of the 8-hour working day: Elon Musk now requires his employees to work weekends

According to the businessman, working more than 40 hours a week is the only way to “change the world”. Elon Musk, owner of companies such as Tesla, SpaceX and X, is currently in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a body that aims to cut US public spending.

In this context, the magnate not only confessed that his employees work 120 hours a week but also repeatedly detailed that they also work weekends.

Musk has always been convinced that progress requires employees to work more than 40 hours a week. “Our bureaucratic opponents work optimistically 40 hours a week. That is why they are losing so fast,” he said in a post made through his official X account.

Elon Musk claims his employees work 120 hours and on weekends

In line with his productivity standards, Musk not only claimed that ‘DOGE works 120 hours a week,’ but also explained in an X post that his employees operate during the weekends.

Musk’s work standards had been anticipated in November last year on the official DOGE account, where it was announced: “We need revolutionaries of small government with a super high IQ willing to work more than 80 hours a week on unglamorous cost cuts.”

Following his own line and in response to a February post delving into how DOGE cuts could take effect over a weekend, the manager claimed that “very few in the bureaucracy actually work on the weekend, so it’s like the opposing team just left the field for 2 days. Working on the weekend is a superpower.”

Working weekends: a practice of Elon Musk that is not limited to DOGE

Working weekends is not a practice that the entrepreneur simply applies to his DOGE employees.

When announcing the launch of Grok 3, the artificial intelligence X himself called “the most intelligent artificial intelligence on Earth”, he said that during the weekend before its launch he would be “perfecting the product with the whole team”, showing that his working days do not end on Fridays.
