Rocío has shared some of her most effective tricks in a video with her followers on TikTok. Rocío Butrón reveals non-toxic, homemade methods for repelling insects from the home, with alternatives that can be easily prepared with products that are usually found in any home.
One of the most outstanding tips Butrón gives is the use of cinnamon, which is effective in repelling ants. “At what age did you find out that if you put cinnamon in the mop bucket you’ll effectively say goodbye to ants,” she says at the beginning of her video. This method is not only useful inside the house, but also outside, sprinkling cinnamon in strategic places such as corners and under furniture.
Remedies for moisture insects
To combat small insects that thrive in humid environments, the expert suggests a mixture of cinnamon powder and cloves. “We will close it up in a little packet and pierce it with a fork,” explains Butrón, recommending that these packets be placed near areas of the home prone to humidity.
Another shared resource is a solution based on water with five drops of lavender oil, ideal for repelling flies. Additionally, she offers a formula that includes water, vinegar, lemon slices and cloves, of proven effectiveness, although how it works is a mystery. “Don’t ask me how it works, but it works,” she says confidently.
Strategies against mosquitoes and cockroaches
As for mosquitoes and cockroaches, Rocío proposes an innovative remedy that involves wetting a spiral, cutting it into pieces and mixing it with alcohol and squeezed lemon. This approach avoids the use of insecticide sprays and is effective for places such as under furniture or areas where fruit flies accumulate.
Finally, Butrón describes a simple method for trapping fruit flies using water, sugar and dishwasher detergent. “Two tablespoons of sugar, four squirts of dishwasher detergent and they’ll be falling in all by themselves,” she says of this homemade trap.
These home remedies provided by Rocío Butrón are not only practical and easy to implement, but also offer safe and environmentally friendly alternatives to keep homes free of insects, without resorting to aggressive chemicals.
