I didn’t know that there are coat racks with integrated LED lights: they are ideal for lighting wardrobes without using cables

This type of solution allows you to light up the inside of the wardrobe and, thanks to the sensors, it only lights up when it detects someone’s presence. When it comes to lighting up different areas of the home without the need for cables, there are solutions for all tastes and budgets. However, the one I have just discovered has surprised me with its elegant design and clean finish.

Every time I see a designer wardrobe or dressing room in a film, I wonder how I can get something similar without spending a fortune. Well, this option that I am going to show you allows you to recreate at home a dressing room worthy of the best-dressed celebrities.

Wireless LED lights

Forgetting to turn on the light in the room to see properly inside the cupboards and drawers is now a reality. As we know, there are many alternatives for illuminating the insides of wardrobes and drawers, but few are as attractive and practical as this one.

The classic wardrobe bars — also called hanging bars, hanging tubes or clothes rails — have evolved: now there are models that are not only adjustable, but also incorporate LED lighting with integrated sensors.

These solutions are becoming increasingly common and in fact in shops such as Leroy Merlin or Amazon, we have models available with different prices and options. In addition, almost all the models you will find have an LED lighting system that makes them turn on automatically when the door is opened or movement is detected, thus facilitating their use without the need for switches.

How to install it and what to look out for

Installing a hanging rail with built-in LED light in a wardrobe is not complicated. In fact, it is easier than it seems and does not require advanced technical knowledge. You just need to consider whether the model runs on batteries, a rechargeable battery or if it needs a direct connection to the mains.

If the LED bar is rechargeable via USB, you just need to charge it before installing it; if it runs on batteries, you need to install them first. If it is a wired model, you will need a plug nearby. And this may be the most complicated case, not only because of the plug but also to hide the cables.

If you are not assembling the wardrobe from scratch, you can easily hide the wiring using staples or adhesive ducts on the inside, thus achieving a clean and discreet finish. On the other hand, if you are going to install the LED lighting system at the same time as assembling the wardrobe, you can plan its integration from the beginning, leaving the cables hidden and even incorporating a power outlet inside the wardrobe or ensuring access to one nearby.

For a perfect result, start by measuring and marking the height at which you will place the rail, normally between 160 and 170 cm from the base of the wardrobe. Take into account the type of garments you are going to hang: if they are longer, such as coats or dresses, you will need to leave more space to prevent them from rubbing against the bottom of the wardrobe.
