With a little aluminum foil and this great idea, create the most original and eye-catching pot for your plants

If you have some aluminum foil, plaster and paint, then go ahead and put this great idea into action and create the most original, fun and eye-catching plant pot for your smallest plants. It is a low-cost sustainable project that, as you will discover below, can be carried out in a few simple steps.

As there are many ways to make beautiful plant pots for your succulents, we are now going to show you the green plan of Eva H. de Alba, an expert in decorative recycling workshops and creator of digital content, from “Bricolaje e ideas DIY”. On her official Instagram profile, she shared the step-by-step process for making these incredible plant pots.

Materials to use (replaceable):

  • Sand and aluminum foil
  • Plastic cup
  • Water, plaster or cement
  • Container and spatula
  • Acrylic paint
  • Detergent, oil or petroleum jelly
  • Varnish, waterproofing agent or sealant

How to create the most original and eye-catching pot to give your succulents a new home:

  • To start the recycling process, the first thing you have to do is collect sand in a bucket and make a hole in the center with the help of a plastic cup. Follow the instructional images to make your pot correctly.

  • The next step is to place the aluminum foil in this hole and create the mixture for your flower pot. Specifically, you are going to pour water into a container and slowly sprinkle the plaster over the water. Mix until you get a smooth consistency.

  • Once you have achieved a uniform plaster without lumps, you can color this mixture with a little acrylic paint of a desired shade. Remember that cement can also be used to obtain a much more resistant flower pot.

  • Now it’s time to pour the plaster mixture and shape your colorful flower pot. You have to pour the consistency into the hole with aluminum foil and try not to fill this hole to avoid spilling.

  • Then you’re going to grease the plastic cup before inserting it into the mixture. In this case, detergent was used on the outside and a little sand on the inside for weight, as you have to leave your flower pot to dry overnight.

  • The next day, remove the recycled flower pot from the plaster and, if you like, highlight the edges with a little white paint. To do this, you can run a fine brush over them. This will enhance their irregularities and give them a more decorative touch. Finally, protect them with a coat of varnish, waterproofing or sealant.

  • That’s it, you can now transplant your succulents or small plants into this beautiful pot made from recycled materials. Without a doubt, an easy, quick and ultra-fun sustainable project for your leisure time!
